Hypermetropia and Astigmatism

Hypermetropia and Astigmatism
Hyperopia (poor near vision) is a refractive error, which means that the eye does not refract or bend light properly and the images are not clearly focused. When there is a hyperopia, distant objects are usually clearly seen, but nearby objects are blurred.
People experience hyperopia in different ways. Some people may not have any problems with their vision, especially when they are young. Other people with considerable hyperopia may have blurred vision at any distance, near or far. This is an eye disorder related to the imaging approach, not an eye disease.
Astigmatism: it's a type of refractive error of the eye. Refractive errors cause blurred vision and are the most common reason why a person consults with an ophthalmologist.

Causes

People are able to see because the front part of the eye (cornea) can bend (refract) the light and focus it on the back surface of this organ called the retina. The rays of light do not focus clearly on the retina, the images that you see can be blurry. With astigmatism, the cornea is abnormally curved. This curve causes the vision to be out of focus. The cause of astigmatism is unknown. It is usually present from birth. Often, astigmatism occurs together with myopia or hyperopia. If the astigmatism worsens it may be a sign of keratoconus.

symptom

Astigmatism makes it difficult to visualize subtle details either near or far, which is easily diagnosed through a series of tests performed in the clinic. It is possible that mild astigmatism does not need correction. Laser surgery can help change the shape of the corneal surface to correct astigmatism, along with myopia or farsightedness, which can usually eliminate or greatly reduce  astigmatism.
Possible complications in children, if astigmatism is not corrected can cause amblyopia.

When to contact a medical professional
